Like the archtop guitar, the F-style mandolin owns a rich and colorful heritage and remains an important part of American traditional music to this day.

More recently the carved top mandolin has found its way into modern pop, jazz, and experimental music as well. This is strong testimonial to the flexibility of the instrument's design and its potential to express a wide variety of musical styles.

As I have always done with my instruments, I focus on intelligent control of the many design and construction variables available to me. The result is a mandolin that often exceeds the wishes and requirements of the customer. Whether X-braced or parallel braced, carved in a modern or traditional style, a Holst mandolin is always made with the customer's unique needs in mind.

I view every mandolin order as an opportunity for both personal expression as well as customer design input. Each order is unique and special and reflects both the customer and myself.
