Well, there's a bit too much spanking for my taste, but forgivable in a book of this time period (late 1940s). Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle herself is a delight. She lives in an upside-down house and children are always welcome...to comb her hair, to touch anything, to make huge, messy baking experiments in the kitchen, to dig in the yard. Sadly, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle is really only in the first couple of chapters. After that, we only know her though telephone calls and her humerous, mostly non-coercive advice to other parents.
