I recently reread this and was reminded, once again, why this series is considered to be some of the finest fantasy fiction ever written for children.

Taran, Assistant Pig-Keeper longs for adventure. Boy, does he get it. Accompanied by an outspoken and audacious princess, a fibbing bard, and a fluffy creature, he battles forces of desperate evil.

High adventure.

Probably suitable for third graders and up (I first read the series in the third grade), but also enjoyable for adults (at least for me).
