Quiltmaking Retreats on the Oregon
Coast
Join us for a three days of
sewing and socializing at a Fast Patch retreat Every
summer Nancy Foisy and I sponsor a retreat in June on the Pacific Coast.
You'll enjoy your drive to Oregon and the time you spend on its wonderful
coastline. There are so many beautiful state parks that none of them are
crowded.

Cost is $225 for classes and meals. You're on your own for lodging, but
we get a group discount.
Where are retreats held?
Retreats are at Driftwood Shores Resort north of Florence.
It's a great hotel, with our sewing room and all guest rooms overlooking
the ocean. Driftwood Shores is usually booked solid in the summer, but
we reserve rooms well ahead of time (and even manage to get you a discount).
Who are the teachers?
Anita Hallock - I specialize in innovative techniques.

Nancy Foisy - Nancy keeps up with all the
latest quiltmaking trends and is a great help with technical problems.
She has done commercial garment construction, worked at sewing machine
dealerships, taught most piecing and quilting techniques, and served as
a judge at quilt shows.
What are classes like?
Classes are Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They are friendly
and informal with about 20 students. Many are old friends who come year
after year, but they are all ready to give a hug to new friends. Everything
is taught in the same large room, so you can wander over and see what others
are doing (or find out what they are laughing about). Learn from the projects
you do as well as the projects they do. Spend all three days on the same
project, or try several. You can make many decisions after you get here.
Sharan Thompson, owner of the Threads That Bind quilt shop in Coos Bay
brings her most popular fabrics and most-often-needed notions and sets
up shop in the lobby for our convenience (which doesn't stop us from making
an occasional group trip to the Florence quilt shop).
I usually plan a new project or two, but you can choose
other projects from my books or make a project for a future book. Nancy
usually has special vests or sweatshirt cardigans, plus projects embellished
with photography or painting. Either one of us will help you with unfinished

Can family and friends come?
Your loved ones are welcome. While you sew and socialize,
they can play golf, ride horses, do photography, walk on the beach, visit
Sea Lion Caves or shop in Old Town Florence. They are welcome at meals
and Show & Tell. Thursday evening you can join them in shopping, dining,
and sightseeing.
Some years we also do special events
in Massachusetts
People come there from all over the world to see the beautiful
fall colors. Since my daughter Betsy Heath lives here, we sometimes have
special retreats or workshops other than those sponsored by guilds. No
retreats are planned at this time.
