October 2, 2003 my colleague, Lennie Honcoop, published her first pattern using Hot Ribbon. Check out Wine in the Glass.
In September 2003 I added more examples of Potluck Appliqué to this web page.
In June 2003 I first tried out my new Potluck Appliqué idea on a group of quilters. The folks at my retreat on the Oregon Coast loved the technique. I am now lining up workshops for quilt guilds and will likely have this technique as the subject of my next book. Hot Ribbon is perfect for finishing edges of the shapes.
In May 2003 I created a new pattern for the Stitch & Flip Pinwheels, the most popular version of the Woodpile Blocks in Sizzling Quilts from a Simple Block. If you are a teacher, you will be especially interested. This pattern is similar to the quilt on page 39 of that book, but gives larger projects. (There are calculations for 4 different versions, none of them duplicated in the book-- take a look!)
In December 2002, I began experimenting with Hot Ribbon, a new fusible ribbon from Japan. I wrote a 36-page introduction to Hot Ribbon Art.
My husband George died of cancer in April 2002, in case you knew him. I have had lots of support from my family, friends, and church, so I am doing okay. I just haven't been writing or traveling much lately.
Fast Patch: A Treasury of Strip Quilts is out of print and I don't know of any store or distributor which still sells it. I buy any copies I find at smaller distributors. I try to keep a few copies on hand, first come, first served.
Future books: I don't have any books in the works right now (though I do have a lot of material generated for more strip-piecing books, I am experimenting with appliqué and Hot Ribbon instead. Later I will probably write books that combine strip-piecing and applique/Hot Ribbon projects.

I develop interesting alternatives to traditional quiltmaking. Instead of cutting and sewing hundreds of pieces of fabric, we work with strips and use assembly-line techniques.
